The Morawa Community Telecentre Inc, which we now know as the Morawa Community Resource Centre, commenced operation on 20th June 1994. With the backing of the local community the Telecentre leased the former Morawa Catholic Primary School which was an ideal premise for the new organisation as its two adjoining classrooms provided ample room for the Telecentre to grow into. The Telecentre commenced operating with only two computers, some basic programs, a Westlink satellite dish and enough money to pay their staff wages for two weeks. The Morawa Community Telecentre was its beginnings to the dedicated people and businesses of Morawa who supported the new venture by taking up membership and providing in-kind materials where and when they could.
The Morawa Community Telecentre operated for 16 years before the current government re-launched the Centre on 1st July 2010 as the Morawa Community Resource Centre. This was part of the government's vision to use Royalties for Regions funding to provide a network of over 100 Community Resource Centre's located in small rural communities in WA.
Today, the Morawa Community Resource Centre continues to deliver a range of services and programs ranging from training courses; fee for service activities such as photocopying, videoconferencing and internet access; to community project development and management.
